2009 A6 Avant – Audi’s Largest Wagon

Jan 20

It is no secret that Audi makes the most beautiful Avant (wagon,) but what do you do when the A4 is just a little too small? Well the answer is: try the 2009 A6 Avant on for size. The A6 is #1 in sales for executive vehicles so who would have ever guessed that the Avant would be so appealing to the eye? The wagon pictured at the Portland Audi dealer is powered by Audi’s newest engine, the 3.0T. So not only is it very functional for utility use, but also very fun to drive. The A6 Avant will be on a much more limited production run then its smaller sibling the A4, so if this wagon the vehicle for you then make sure to put your name on the list as soon as possible.

In my opinion, the A6 is screaming for updated styling… I think some design cues from the other models need to be applied. Perhaps more of the aggressive lines and fascia from the 09 A4 need to migrate up, and some of the edgier lines over from the TT.

To me. the front looks bulbous and the rear squatty…

I hope to not offend any owners reading this, just my lowly opinion. To each his/her own. 🙂

Jason, The 2009 A6 model only got a facelift this year from the 2008 model year. The real update was in the powertrain with a the 3.0T supercharged V6 available under the hood. This engine has the best of both worlds, power and fuel economy.

Looks good! The A6 Avant is definitely the best looking estate on the market. We have a 2007 model, and I’ve always thought it is strange how they programed the rear turn signals to use the LEDs instead of the amber bulb which is clearly in there. I see they’ve made a white stripe in them now, maybe they changed it. Just a small detail really.

The tail light “configuration” on pre MY09 cars is due to the US-lighting laws. This was “solved” for MY09 with the newly designed tail lights.

PS – I have a 2008 A6 3.2 Avant, and I love it.
