I purchased a 2011 A8 that did not come with Audi Connect. Does anybody know if there will be a retrofit?

Thank you for this website, highly appreciated!
Is the SW number of the audi MMI-Most unit the SW number that I can find in the MMI under Version?I found the SW number: AU-HU 42.2.0.0709.
In the table is mentioned that it should be >=700 to make an update possible. Is this related to the last four digits in my SW number.
More directly, can I ask my dealer for an update in order to make my Iphone 4 work with the AMI. (I got the blue cable from an audi dealer)

Cheers, Willem

What a great site. I have an Audi A6 with AMI and until recently I have been using an Ipod via the Interface cable without Issue. My Ipod has failed and I have tried to connect my Sony Walkman NWZ-E445 16GB Digital Media Player via USB but the message I get states that "this type of media device or cable is unsupported".
Do you have any suggestions or should I buy another ipod.
Thanks in advance for any help

answered without answering, awesome.
I just read your other notes on importing music, so i will try that, thank you very much, but what I dont understand is why i cant play music directly from my 3gs ipod through the ami. My ipod is jailbroken, could this have any effect? As when i choose the source, the ami option is grey, thus not an available option, and as this model has the navigation it had dvd as source instead of cd but that cannot be selected either.

I have a 3gs ipod with the blue cable and it seems to connect to my 2010 a4 ami, but when I go into media it asks if i want to import tracks from playlist and then there are none available even though I have many playlists and have already tried making a dedicated audi titled playlist. can anyone tell me if I need to setup anything on my ipod to be able to access my music? This very expensive system is sending me very crazy, PLEASE

I have an 2008 A6 no nav with iPod adapter. I plug in nano, iphone it doesnt recognize my ipods. says source not connected. I dont understand. I just bought my A6 from a dealer in chicago and they gave me a new cord and the iphone didnt work they told me it is only compatible with ipods so i get home and it doesnt work with nano's 2 different generations. My only alternative is to see if it works with my old gen 3 or 4 classic.

My next comment is going to be very direct. I purchased a 2007 A6 4.2 loaded with 52000 miles and I have had engine part replacement air intake fan motors to be exact, left sided and right sided, 11000 miles after they were installed they tell me I need to replace both of them. For a german mfg. to bring this kind of interface to the market, without the option of an 1/8 or 3.5mm whatever is disgusting. How in the world can you not engineer this into your MMI. The Koreans even offer a jack in their low end cars. Audi is a lot like apple. We do what we want and you will like it... Such a sad thing............
