Audi Q5 – Dog Gate

Mar 12

I may have went a little overboard with the pictures this time with such a simple device, but I just couldn’t help my self with this Q5 accessory. This Q5 partition is slick; not only does it have its own carrying case that stores nicely away behind the second row seats, but it is extremely sturdy. The gate can either be set up behind the rear seats so you can still use the back seats to carry passengers or directly behind the front drivers and passanger seat to optimize the Q5 storage space. Whether you are using this gate to hold back a dog or simply for saftey against objects from the rear compartment coming forward during hard braking or an accident, I would say it is a must have. The designers that came up with this partition made it very durable, small, light weight, easy to install and remove and most important, versatile. It performs its job well.

Will this work in a 2011 Q 7?

If so, what do they cost?

From Samuel Romano on February 3rd, 2011

Yes! I have the identical part for the Audi Q7.

From Scott Mitchell on February 3rd, 2011

I called the dealer, it costs $500+

From Name (required) on February 10th, 2011

Scott…I purchased a Q5 dog gate in January.  Have since traded the Q5 for a Q7…which means I want to sell my old gate for a discount.  It is practically new, so I am thinking of $375 (free shipping) as opposed to the $495 new price.  I do not want to post my email to your site because, well, it is your site…so I am wondering if you have any suggestions.  I will check back to see your response.

Thank you!

From Squirrelbrand on May 25th, 2011

Feel free to post it on the site, i have no problem with that.

Scott— I sold my 2010 Q7 and also have a genuine Audi dog gate as shown above, would be happy to sell it for $350– I’ll pay the shipping if it does not exceed $25.

This gate has only been used one time and is like new!

From Tim on July 5th, 2011

As cool as this is, how is it possibly worth $500?

From Shad on November 8th, 2011

I want this dog gate for my Audi Q5 2010.  Anyone have one available to sell?  Washington state.  Thanks,

From Tspeedie on December 10th, 2011

Other than the high cost, I have an issue with it’s coverage.  If I’m driving solo, it’s fine but with a passenger, there is no way to interact with the dog (mine in the case) to give him a snack, sip of water from his bottle, scratch his nose, etc.  It needs to have an opening in the center that can be closed when necessary.

From JFGlass on January 18th, 2012

Is this barrier strong enough to catch a dog and prevent it from flying into the passenger compartment?

In a 60 mph crash, a 60 lbs Golden Retriever or Golden Lab would generate 6,000 pounds of force as it slammed into the barrier.   The crash would kill the dog outright.   But, if you had children in the backseat, the question is, would this mesh barrier save them?

Wouldn’t a metal barrier be much much safer and stronger?   I am not an engineer, but instead a concerned parent.

The positive thing about this barrier is that it was designed by Audi and the car was also clearly designed to accomodate the barrier.

Does Audi give a weight limit for the dog?

From Rod Boothby on March 10th, 2012

Just wanted to let you know that this is a totally awesome site.  We are very impressed.  The only problem I have with the dog gate however, is the price.  It’s a bit much for the concept.  And, there are others out there.

From Ldjcustomshop on March 25th, 2012

If you buy the car from the dealer, they’ll throw it in if you ask for it.  Dealer gave me mine (without asking) and I didn’t know what it was for until now.

From Josephblowington on May 5th, 2012

Anyone have the part number for this? I am trying to get one from dealer but having problems identifying the part.

From Don on October 18th, 2012

Can the dog gate be shipped to Australia. If so what is the cost and timing?

From Tony on February 21st, 2016

Desperately need to by this mesh dog gate. Have a large Bernese Mountain dog that wants to climb in the front seat when we are driving. Can anyone tell me where to buy it? My Audi dealer is having trouble locating it for me. Is there a web site or phone number to contact?

Thanks … Dan
