Audi S8 – The Ultimate Touring Sedan

Imagine the perfect road trip … What do you see? Where are you going? And most importantly, what are you driving? I was sitting in my office today looking through the glass and picturing the perfect road trip trying to decide where I would go and what car I would drive. First, I knew the trip would be long and I would have to be prepared for all kinds of driving conditions: hot weather, windy mountain roads and of course, high speeds. Second I would need a co-pilot. My wife and our dog Guinness would have to be part of this great trip, and of course, for the tough part, what vehicle would be up to the task? The Audi TT would be too small for the long distance we would be traveling; the Q7 couldn’t keep up in the twists and turns; the R8 would be a bit flashy and though the A4 would be very equipped, this was a once in a life time trip… I had it! The Audi S8. Nothing compares to this machine. A 450 HP touring sedan with standard Quattro and a 0-60 in the low 5’s, how could I not have seen it sooner?! An all aluminum body based of that of the standard A8 to shed weight, and a 5.2L power plant derived from the Lamborghini Galardo, would be more then enough power. Startled by the ring of the telephone I was brought back from my afternoon daydream of the hot summer days, long roadtrips and a beautiful Audi. Right in front of my eyes sat the very car I had been imagining: a Daytona Gray pearl effect S8 with a black leather interior and carbon accents. With the elegance of the Alcantara headliner, heated rear seats and 20 inch wheels wrapped in a performance tire this monumental roadtrip could actually become a reality! As my Manager walked by he said, “you look deep in thought.”I replied, “just thinking about our next road trip” He laughed and reminded me I didn’t have any vacation left this year and the road trip would have to wait…
