Audi TT – What does “TT” stand for?

The Audi TT… what a car! You take the technology of its bigger sibling, the R8, and you put it all into a smaller package and you can have just as much fun with better fuel economy. The TT has an aluminum spaceframe body that increases body rigidity, brings the weight of the vehicle down and improves overall balance. When combing the 2.0T, 3.2L V6, or the high performance TTS Direct Inject engines with the new “S-Tronic” transmission or manual 6-speed you will have nothing but fun. I have always loved the feel and drive of the 6-speed manual, but after driving the 2009 Quattro 2.0T mated with the S-Tronic DSG, I was in love! Every vehicle has a personality of its own and every vehicle feels best with a certian drivetrain and tranny, but with the TT there is no wrong combination. The TT is an incredible value and an incredible vehicle to drive; so if you are looking for a unique sportscar, the TT is it. If you ever wondered what TT stood for it is “Tourist Trophy”. The TT was created as a tribute to the classic, Isle Of Man Tourist Trophy motorcycle racing event that is still held today.
