Audi Wilsonville – Coming Soon!

Aug 23

Lets talk about what the city of Portland needs… how about a premier Audi dealer. The countdown is on for the new Audi dealership to open in Portland, Oregon. Audi Wilsonville will be a major asset for Audi lovers as well as potential Audi owners. The new dealership will be sleek and well stocked, bursting with enthusiasm all eager to share what they know about the brand. The Tonkin family will be sure to deliver a fresh approach to the buying experience and Sunset Imports some healthy competition! We look forward to seeing everyone when its doors open September 10th 2010.

Will they be open in time to sell me a TTRS? 🙂

So on the one hand I’m intrigued by what you’re doing with this Website. On the other, as both a branding guy myself and maybe more importantly, an Audi enthusiast (current b6 s4 owner; former b6 ultrasport), I have to say this site comes across very disingenuous and trite. And it actually comes across less about people + community and more like a branding/marketing gimmick used in an effort to build buzz around the new Wilsonville store opening.

Known online communities dedicated to the brand, and more importantly their owners, like Audizine and the local NW Quattro are really about community members that are all willing to help each other technically and to share information and praise each other for their accomplishments–talking “with” me, not “at” me. A real type of “community through technology.”

I’m not getting any of the substance that can be found at the aforementioned sites, within this site.

Plus, as far as the new store is concerned, in plain-and-simple terms (and without using the words “people” or “service” what can we all expect to find different in terms of a Wilsonville Audi experience that cannot be found at Sunset Imports today?

I do not mean to be overly critical. I’m mostly just wondering where you’re coming from.

Thanks for listening.

Well Jesse,
I appreciate your comments and your enthusiasm for the brand. This site is in no way a “gimmick” used to promote anything other than my own enthusiasm for the brand. And yes, from time to time, I do like to mention the new store opening but purely in the spirit of some welcomed healthy competition for Sunset Imports being the only Audi dealership in Portland at this time.
In terms of where I am coming from? Well, everyday that is different. I, like you, love all the other sites such as NW Quattro, Audizine, Audi World, Fourtitude, Quattro World, Quattrohollic ….. and know we all have something different to offer. The Audi brand is growing and so is the community; trust me when I say I am devoted to what I do. I have never received a penny for building or maintaining I Am Audi and would encourage you to go to “about the project” to learn more about why I do this.
Thank you again for your input and hopefully at some point you will find something I have written of some benefit to you or at least mildly entertaining.

Thanks for replying, Scott. I have visited the “About the Project” page and I get what your emotional motivations are, but just so we all have a clearer picture, you do work for Audi Wilsonville don’t you?

From Jesse on September 20th, 2010

Yes I do work with Audi Wilsonville… Clear enough?

Yes, it’s very clear that because you’re on the payroll, you are being held accountable, and you have an incentive, to drive traffic to the new store. That I get.

From Jesse on September 20th, 2010

Haters are everywhere- didn’t you just write an article about Sunset and their charity contributions? This guy obviously doesn’t think someone should be able to do what they love AND be objective about their fondness for the product they represent. I think it’s a testament to his integrity (or lack of) that he doesn’t believe it can be done. Scott- keep blowing the Audi horn, most of us (except this guy) appreciate your passion and enthusiasm. He will probably be driving a BMW or Honda soon and hating on someone else….

1. Performance

Every part in the machine counts.

With our vehicles being developed from the ground up around the world famous & award winning Quattro All-wheel drive, it is no wonder we are the leader in performance.

With countless victories and developments in Le Mans, Rally racing, Pikes Peak, and touring car championships, we build the most competitive All-wheel drive cars in the world. If you are looking for that unfair advantage, welcome to Audi, you have found it.

2. Safety

Why die, when you can live?

Brought to you by the company that pioneered safety standards and crash testing almost 100 years ago, with Audi there is no compromise in safety.

Available with technical advancements such as side guard head protection, Side Assist, adaptive headlights, three point safety belts and many other award winning safety systems as well as L.E.D lighting.

3. Design

Everyone wants to look good right?

Bold dynamic lines with moving surfaces, coupe like design and an aggressive stance on the road whether moving or standing still.

Audi has set itself apart from the rest of the industry with driver oriented cockpits and the leader of interior craftsmanship, materials and fit and finish. Keep in mind our extensive use of aluminum, space frame technology and low center of gravity give you that true Audi experience inside and out.

4. Versatility

Sometimes abundance is not enough.

If you want it, Audi has it. And if you have heard of it, it is most likely an option. Audi builds the most versatile cars in the world. Four door sedan or sport back, Coupe or Sport utility vehicle, big or small, front wheel drive or Quattro, gas fuel or diesel - and you still have to pick a color.

We build vehicles that will truly win races and pick up the groceries on the way home. If you let an Audi tell you it's story, it will never disappoint or disconnect you from the experience.

5. Value

Yes, fair value exchange does exist.

Whether you go with a new Audi and get a 4-year 50k mile warranty, or the certified pre-owned Audi with the most comprehensive 300 + point inspection and up to 6 years, 100k miles, you will not only get the best car on the market,
you will gain piece of mind!

And really, you can't put a price on that.
