As the Audi Q5 demonstration vehicles start to arrive at the local dealers we have an opportunity to see what Audi has to offer with its first crossover vehicle. Being that the Q5 is Audis first entry into this segment we ask, what differentiates the Audi Q5 from the rest? The first impression you might have is that the Q5 is about 3 years behind the other contenders in the IHG (Import High Group) Crossover Sport Utility segment. Well you are right. We are introducing the Q5 later then the other manufacturers; however we are introducing the right Crossover, at the right time. As people start to downsize from their SUV’s (Sport Utility Vehicle) and become more conscious of their purchases, the Q5 truly shines. With standard equipment such as leather seating, dual power front seats, 6 front airbags and adaptive load sensing roof rails, even with an entry level Q5, you have a first class Audi. We received our Q5 Demo about a week ago so I have had a chance to see it on a regular basis and go through its many features. My impressions of the Q5 from a design point of view from day one was very positive; simply put, I love the look. Even with the vehicle on hand, the lines and shape continue to work for me. My clienteles feedback has been very positive as well; they are proud to be a part of the brand, go to www.fourtitude.com to see an outstanding example of such pride and love of the Audi Brand.
When first stepping into the Audi Q5 you will notice how easy it is to get in and out. Also, the seating position is set higher, setting you above other vehicles. The drivers seating position is very comfortable and visibility is clear through out the cabin. While setting the exterior mirrors, cabin temperature, seat position and media to my preferences, I noticed how intuitive all the controls were. Though this was the first time I had the opportunity to drive the Q5 it felt so natural due to the well thought out configuration of instrumentation. After depressing the brake pedal and pressing the push button start to ignite the engine, I was off without hesitation. Acceleration was ample, stopping power more then enough and steering input was surgically precise. Through the corners there was very little body roll and road feed back was pleasant with very little road noise, but an extremely connected feeling to the Q5. I not only had a great time driving the Audi Q5 but also felt very safe and knew that this Crossover was very versatile. Whether I was out for a spirited drive on or off road, or just making my way home after a Portland Trail Blazers game with four passengers, the Q5 was up for the task.
I have only had a few days and although comfortable both in and out of the Audi Q5 I know it has so much more to show me. I will continue to offer up tasks and see what the Q5 is made of over the next few months, and see what tricks it has up its sleeve. When you have the opportunity to drive the Q5, ask it while you put it through its paces what it thinks about “being 3 years behind the rest,” and the Q5 will show you with confidence, it is 3 years ahead of the rest.
If you have any questions about the Audi Q5 “Contact Me Here” and I will do my best to help you. Keep in mind I took these photographs in order to provide the best example of the Audi Q5 and share what I see in the industry each day. I will continue to showcase original content in order to be your top source for Portland Oregon Audi. Thanks again for visiting www.iamaudi.com
The St. Johns Bridge is Portlands tallest bridge with 400 foot tall towers and 205 feet of clearance for ships to pass beneath. The construction of the bridge began a month before the Stock Market Crash of 1929 but fortunately provided many local residents with jobs during the Great Depression of that time. Amazingly the 2,067 ft gothic inspired St Johns bridge was completed only 21 months later. The Bridge that spans over Cathedral Park has come a long way from the 1,000 ferry passengers a day to an estimated average of 23,800 in 2001. So if you are ever in the Portland area or if you just want to enjoy your Audi and go for a drive, make sure to cross the St. Johns Bridge, the view is beautiful.
To make our lives even a little easier Audi has brought out their version of Bluetooth MP3 interface technology. This system works very nicely; if you have a Bluetooth compatable MP3 device, it will work for you. After you have updated the software on your MMI system with the provided flashdrive you can then attach the USB adapter and you are connected. Without ever having to physically connect your music device to your Audi, you can link the music right through your in vehicle audio system. This is a very cool innovation that is sure to add to your entertainment experience!
This is the USB stick with software for the Audi Music Interface and operating instructions for the Bluetooth adapter.

Over the last week we took a road trip to California. Despite the weather not being what we had hoped for, I finally got the chance to go to one of my favorite online dog boutiques in person – GEORGE. We went to the Berkeley location and it was a great experience. Guinness had a blast running around with the stores many toys and chasing around the very friendly staff! The store was awesome and filled with great dog stuff that was exactly as shown online. Not often is a store presented with the same sort of feel as it is online, and I will say George is an exception. Guinness was very happy to sniff around while we snooped at the many vintage dog and cat items covering the store.
Guinness really loves his new George bowl!!!!
Not only was the store great, but the woman working there gave us a great recommendation to a hotel where we ended up staying. She also printed off directions to various dog parks in the area as well as great walks we could take our little guy on.

If you are in the area be sure to check out the Berkeley location or their other George location across the bridge in San Francisco.
It was a great experience and we will be sure to go back when we are in California again.
Thanks again George!
Audi has always surpassed the competition with regards to its quality and craftsmanship of interior design and function. Add to this high level of quality environmentally friendly practices and you have the perfect balance of conscienceness and comfort. This video will give you a greater appreciation for the dedication that goes into every stitch of your Audis interior.
The Audi R8 4.2L V8 Has been a true champion and distinguished in both performance and design since it was a concept car and shortly after debuted for the public. Few automobiles have been acclaimed in so many areas for the entire run of their respective life; the V8 R8 has achieved this in so many fashions and with such elegance. From its timeless beauty, its performance and drivability, to the Quattro and innovative technologies that make it an Audi. These shoes are going to be hard to fill for the upcoming
R8 V10, the body will unmistakably be an R8 and the performance will no doubt be “amazing” but how can you top a giant among giants? I will leave you with this:
“Audi R8 – AUTOMOBILE Magazine calls the R8 the kind of iconic sports car that comes around once or twice a decade. Dramatic inside and out, the R8 is wide, low, and purposeful–it is a luxury grand tourer as much as it is a pure sports car.”
I couldn’t have said it better myself.
I took these photographs in order to provide the best example of the 2009 4.2L R8. I will continue to showcase original content in order to be your top source for Portland Audi.
The Audi S5 is understated and pours over with elegance and strength with its strong lines and aggressive stance. Even with such a subtle presence on the street, when stepping into the S5 you are overtaken with emotion when positioning yourself in the Silk Napa bulstored sport seats. More so with this particular S5, the beautiful Meteor Gray accompanied by the intense Magma Red interior, reminds its driver of its true purpose of ultimate performance. There is no doubt that everyone has an opinion and no one color scheme will work for every single person, however no matter who you are, Magma Red will envoke feeling. Neutral colors can never disappoint, but then again, they can never tell a story of what the car is trying to say; this S5 will never be underspoken or misunderstood.

Recently 2 lucky couples had the fortune to participate in Audis A4 Global driving experience in Estonia, a small country in the Baltic region of Northern Europe. Driving over the Austrian Alpine Passes in the 2009 A4 was a dream come true and an experience they will not soon forget. These four people were able to take in the breath taking views from the highest peaks while experiencing the technology and performance of the 2009 A4.
“Are we Getting Diesel?” I have been asked this question more times then I can count and now we have an answer. The Q7 has been introduced with the potent 3.0L V6 TDI engine and it will be available in the United States very shortly. And for everyone asking “Why the Q7?” I have that answer too; because anticipated in late Fall 2009 the A3 will be here in diesel as well. So there you have it, whether you need a Sport Utility Vehicle with an estimated average 25 MPG or a ultra fuel efficient diesel A3, you have a choice; or you could always just get one of each!
I took these photographs in order to provide the best example of the 2009 Audi Q7 Diesel. I will continue to showcase original content in order to be your top source for Portland Audi.
After seeing the Q5 in person for the first time I am very impressed and from the feedback at the Autoshow, so is everyone else. There was a continous crowd of people gathered around the Q5 for the entire 4 days we were on hand at the Portland Convention Center. The feedback from the public was very strong and their opinions of the Q5 and the Audi Brand as a whole was a positive view. The Q5 was very solid feeling, standard equiptment was impressive and as expected the design, shape and proportions exceeded my expectations. Though the look of the Q5 beautiful, it was also exceptional when I sat behind the wheel and found the visability to be great, leg room ample and cargo and cabin compartments very spacious. Audi has done it again. They have taken design and versatility and balanced them perfectly. I would like to thank everyone for stopping by and saying hello and giving me the opportunity to showcase the Audi line up. If I can answer any questions feel free to Contact Me. I belive that in the next 2 years Audi will have the ability to introduce as many Q5’s into the market as the A4, so no matter what you want, Audi will have something for you. Again I would like to thank everyone who made it out and over the next few weeks I will bring you more comprehensive reviews on the Audi Q5.

Although I am an advocate for Sunset Imports, our local Portland Audi store, the city of Portland, Oregon is truly beautiful.
Fremont Bridge with Mt. St. Helens in the background.
Opened to the public November 2nd, 1973, the Fremont Bridge is Portland’s newest bridge over the Willamette River. This amazing bridge has the longest main span of any bridge in Oregon and is the second longest tied arch bridge in the world. Routing Interstate 405 and US 30 traffic between downtown and North Portland where it intersects with I-5 this bridge is a main connection point in the Portland area.
At Sunset Audi, the local Portland Audi dealer, our showroom is continually changing both to keep up with cars being sold and to keep up with what people want to see. It is not hard to anticipate what people are going to want by looking out the window and in the Northwest it can change in the blink of an eye. In the fall, Avants are what everyone wants; winter and the Quattro in the Q7 is a must; a sunny day in the middle of February and a beautiful Coupe will be in demand and of course when the Sun comes out the tops go down on Audis gorgeous soft tops. So like clockwork we had a white S5 on the Showroom floor and in no time it was gone to a new home. We have now replaced it with a well equipped S-Line A5. Don’t get me wrong, working at Portland’s only Audi dealer is great; with the changing seasons and changing showroom I always have something to enjoy.
I took these photographs in order to provide the best example of the 2009 Audi A5. I will continue to showcase original content in order to be your top source for Portland Audi , Thanks for visiting and enjoy.
The new Audi S4 is the class leader in its competitive field. The engine it will be using is the 3.0 TFSI, delivering 333 horsepower, can achieve almost 25 miles to the gallon, and this is a 27% improvement in fuel economy over the previous S4. The S4 has always been known as a dynamic sports car with the comfort of a daily driver, Quattro four wheel drive, Audi Drive Select and an advanced braking system for better stopping power.Combined, these features put the new S4 at the top of the podium. After choosing between the 7 speed S-Tronic transmission or a manual gear box, you will not be let down with Audi’s optional dynamic rear sports differential.
The functions of the sport differential can also be varied to suit the driver’s individual preferences. In the ‘comfort’ mode, driving safety & stability can be optimized, with a smooth ride and comfort being priority. In the ‘auto’ mode the differential will proactively anticipate road conditions and driver inputs and perform accordingly. Finally, the ‘dynamic’ mode truly emphasizes the sport features and will perform to its most agile ability. In this mode you find out not only what kind of driver you are, but what the Audi S4 is made of.
I am Audi is your number one source for Portland Audi and Sunset Audi information. Please feel free to contact me, Scott Mitchell with any inquiries on the Audi Brand or the product line up.
Should I get a sedan or should I get a wagon? This is a question most people ask themselves when choosing a new vehicle and often the “fun factor” comes into play. People often find themselves thinking the wagon is not sporty or fun but with the Audi A4 Avant this is simply not true. When choosing to add the Sport Package to any A4, whether it is the sedan or the versatile Avant you won’t be disappointed.
After the A7 was released with the Sahara Silver Metalic exterior color and light beige interior, I became a fan of this combination. No more then a week later this A5 comes in with a very similar color combination, and it looks great. When seeing the Sahara Silver Metalic A5 next to the Dakar Beige A4 I can not decide what color appeals to me more. All I know is they both look great.
The Portland International Auto Show is a very exciting time for Automotive enthusiasts because not only can they see what their Automotive brand has to offer, but also the competition. People often go to the Auto Show to see what is available and to see what manufacturers will be offering in the future. It is a great time to be an Audi enthusiast because the Audi Brand is exploding into the market place and not only do we have an amazing lineup now but some very exciting products coming in the near future.
In less than a week Sunset Imports, the exclusive Portland Audi dealer, will be on hand to display some of the 2009 Audi line up at the 2009 Portland International Auto Show. The Portland International Auto Show will be hosted at The Oregon Convention Center in the Oregon Ballroom between BMW & Mercedes.
Anticipated to be on hand are:
2009 Audi Q7 3.0T Diesel Quattro Sport Utility
2009 Audi Q5 3.2 TFSI Quattro Crossover
2009 Audi A3 2.0 TFSI Quattro Sportback
2009 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Quattro Sedan
2009 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Quattro Avant
2009 Audi A5 3.2L Quattro Coupe
2009 Audi A8L 4.2L Quattro Sedan
2009 Audi R8 4.2L
I will personally be on hand to answer any questions Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th during the Auto Show so if you would like to set up an appointment to visit with me “Contact Me Here” so we can set up a time. I am excited about the Audi product and look forward to meeting you.
The TTS will be a limited production vehicle in regards to units produced per year from Audi. There have been additional touches that have been added to the TTS over the standard TT such as the brushed aluminum mirror caps, dual twin pipe exhaust and standard performance features. All of this gives the TTS a very aggressive look. The additional touches do not only add to the overall appearance of the TTS but also each touch adds to the increased performance.
The R8 in its final form from a craftsmanship point of view is perfect. What does it take to build a vehicle with no imperfections? The answer is the human touch. To build a vehicle by hand is no easy task. This video gives you a glimpse at the R8 being crafted and an idea of really how special this car is, not only from an engeneering stand point, but also its impecable craftsmanship.
One of the best parts about being an Audi Brand Specialist is seeing everything first hand and because I run my own site I get the added bonus to get peoples feedback on what they like. When I posted the Meteor Gray A3 with the Titanium Package about 50% of the people who looked at it loved it, the other 50% said it only works on a black or white car. I decided to post a white A3 with the Titanium Package immediatly after the Meteor Gray so people can see them side by side. Everyone has a preference when choosing colors and options on their car, that is what makes it so much fun. Just remember when you are deciding what you like go by what you think and not by what other people say is “the nicest.”
Without question the Titanium Edition is one of my favorite style packages that Audi has come out with. The gloss piano black trim on the interior, black headliner, black exterior trim and of course the gun metal finished wheels really set this package apart. Since you have to get the S-Line Package in order to get the Titanium Package it can be designated as the cosmetic finish on top of the S-Line trim package. There are no mechanical modifications to the powertrain or drive train with this package so driving characteristics are still exceptional. Available in 2009 on the A3 in the 2.0T, 2.0T Quattro and of course the 3.2L V6. Also, depending on engine configuration you can get the 6-speed manual or S-Tronic transmission as well.
It is no secret that Audi makes the most beautiful Avant (wagon,) but what do you do when the A4 is just a little too small? Well the answer is: try the 2009 A6 Avant on for size. The A6 is #1 in sales for executive vehicles so who would have ever guessed that the Avant would be so appealing to the eye? The wagon pictured at the Portland Audi dealer is powered by Audi’s newest engine, the 3.0T. So not only is it very functional for utility use, but also very fun to drive. The A6 Avant will be on a much more limited production run then its smaller sibling the A4, so if this wagon the vehicle for you then make sure to put your name on the list as soon as possible.
Any car enthusiast dreams of racing. It is part of what makes automobiles so much fun. The thrill of speed; the moment you get excited about acceleration and the uncontrollable smile that comes across your face when you press the gas pedal. This feeling can be felt while just driving through windy roads on the way to work or crusing down the 101 on vaction… but what if you could get that same feeling by just looking at a car?
When I first saw the 2009 R8 LMS I was put back and in total “aww.” Audi had created the perfect machine for excitement. They have taken the already amazing mid engine R8 and given it a defined purpose, racing. Though the price tag may be heavy, so is the 500 horsepower and to many, there is no price tag on true performance. The pictures we have seen of the 2009 R8 LMS are beautiful, but the sound and vision of this machine in action can only be expressed with video.
When I look at a car and the color combination, I attribute the colors with something I have seen before, such as a piece of art, a color in the sky or most recently, fashion. When I see a color combination I like I try to think, “why does that combination work for me?” This is an A5 we had special ordered for a client to the Portland Audi dealer, Sunset Imports, and his choice was beautiful. The Tuscan Milano leather interior with the dark blue exterior stood out like a perfectly tailored blue suit with a fine pair of leather shoes. When you see the blue exterior with the rich brown interior you think to yourself, “wow, that really works well together”. Something I thought was great was the choice to go with a six speed manual gearbox. So even with such an elegant look you have the control and performance of a sports car.
Audi has always been a leader in advancements – but don’t get me wrong, the rear view camera system is not new technology; it is however, without fault. Your Audi may not be able to park itself yet, (thank goodness) but you will have the best supporting system to keep you, your family and your car safe. The rear view camera in the Audi is neatly tucked away where it can’t be obstructed or damaged, making this system maintanence free and very helpful in tight spots.
To engage the camera you simply have to put the vehicle in reverse; it will then turn off when you go into drive. When I learned to drive and parallel park I never had a camara to help me, so I can’t help but to look over my shoulder. I have become pretty confident parking cars in tight spaces because working at the Portland Audi dealer there is no room for mistakes. This little camera has been a real help. There is no doubt in my mind we are only seeing the infantile stages of camera technologies in Audis. If we are this advanced now, the I can only imagine what the future holds.
The rear view camera system is available on all 2009 models sold in North America, except for the A3.
From our window we can see the traffic pass by below us on the Ross Island Bridge. It is an endless stream of cars day and night. We have always loved the bridges in our beautiful city and the way they unintrusively connect each side of the city of Portland. The Ross Island Bridge was designed by Gustav Lindenthal, a world famous bridge designer, and finished construction in 1926. To this day it still demands nothing and stands strong. From the ground you can see the bridge span from Arthur Street on the West to Powell Boulevard on the East. Though the veiw of the Ross island Bridge from the ground is beautiful the real view is from the walkway along the bridge itself.
Ross Island Bridge day view from the South Waterfront.
Ross Island Bridge night view from the South Waterfront.
When you do not need the S-Line equipment or you just simply prefer the look of a different style of wheel you have a new option; now available is the Sport Package. The great thing about the Sport Package is the aggressive look it gives to the A4 without huge jump in trim level. Unlike the S-Line option the Sport Package is available with any trim level. With Audi anyone can enjoy the sporty feel of our A4 without “having” to add unwanted options.
Apple products and Audi’s are very compatible. It is said “if Apple made a car it would be an Audi,” the iPhone is no exception. The Audi interface on the MMI (Multi Media Interface) with the iPhone is seamless. Keep in mind your Audi has to be bluetooth equipped for this to work, also pairing can only be done when the vehicle ignition has been on for less then 5 minutes.
First press the telephone button to make sure your iPhone has not already been paired with this vehicle. If the phone is not paired the message below will come up on the screen in your Audi.
Go to the starting page of your iPhone and you will see an icon that looks like gears labeled “settings” go into this aplication.
This is a detailed up close image of the “settings” icon.
Now that you are in “settings” go into the the toolbar labeled “general”.
This is a close up image of the “general” toolbar.
You will then go into a screen that has a Bluetooth toolbar, make sure that Bluetooth is ON.
Close up image of Bluetooth ON.
After selecting the Bluetooth “on,” you will see the Audi pairing with the iPhone device, it will only take a few moments for the Audi to find the iPhone device.
Now that the Audi has located the iPhone you will be asked to enter your PIN#, the default PIN# is 1234. After entering the generic PIN# the Audi and the iPhone will pair, this will only take a few moments.
It will briefly read “paired”
You will now see a new screen come up that is your dialing system for your hands free device. Below this you will notice a small Bluetooth icon.
Upclose image of Bluetooth icon in MMI screen.
You can enter most of your iPhone functions in regards to the phone, such the memory of calls both out going and those you have recieved.
Feel free to input a phone number to try the new system out.
And as an added bonus while your iPhone is docked in the iPod adapter in the glove box it will keep your iPhone charged for you.

Audi’s 2009 S8 is using a 450 Horse Power V10 with 398 foot pounds of torque to excellerate from 0-60 mph in only 4.9 seconds. This all aluminium direct gasoline injection engine has amazing power and beautiful driving characteristics. Although the S8 is not the only Audi with this power plant, it is the only V10 Audi at this time with a full aluminium body and four doors, making it a true executive vehicle.
Audi has always made the most beautiful Avant, so when combining the S-Line package to this already beautiful vehicle, you have perfection. This new 2009 wagon really stands out with its huge wheels, stunning interior and aggresive stance, this package puts it all together. One of the most common modifications to any vehicle is suspension and wheels, but when looking at the stance of the S-Line A4 it clearly doesn’t need a thing.
I took these photographs in order to provide the best example of this package. I will continue to showcase original content in order to be your top source for Portland Audi.
2008 was a very successful year for Audi but I also found success as in indivdual. I want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me over the past year and to all my clients who have given me the opportunity to share my passion with them. Thank you for taking the time to work with me and if I can be of any assistance feel free to give me a call or send me an email.
The 2009 A6 is starting to roll in and I already love it. The A6 has always been a top selling car in the executive class due to its looks, saftey, performance and technology. After seeing first hand the new details like the LED headlights and taillights, new front grill and more aggresive body lines I know it will continue to dominate in its class. You will now have 3 options for engine configuration from the naturally aspirated 3.2L V6, supercharged 3.0T V6 and the 4.2L V8. After getting the opportunity to see and drive the new A6 I know when you get a chance you to will love it too.
We delivered our first Audi TTS to a client from Nike. The Nike campus is very close to us in Beaverton, Oregon so it was very convenient. The client and I had been in contact about 6 months prior and he had expressed interest in the TTS, so we kept in touch. The day the TTS came in, by coincidence, he called me asking for an update and I said “It’s here, come in in to see it” so he did. When we met out at our warehouse to check out the Prestige Package, Phantom Black TTS, I could tell he loved the look. Coming from a 4.2L S4 he asked me if he would miss the V8, I assured him no. The high output turbo charged 2.0 TFSI engine would take some ajustment as far as driving style goes, but the other four cylinders would not be missed. With the improved weight distribution and nearly 35 MPG estimated highway fuel economy out of an engine producing 265 horsepower, what more could you want???
This Audi TTS just had to be shown off, I will continue to showcase original content in order to be your top source for Portland Audi.
Contact me and I will be happy to assist you with any of your Audi Needs.
It is said power is everything, and in automotive terms that would be “horsepower”, but what does that power get you? The fact is that horsepower is what consumes fuel and that it is torque that you feel in your seat. Torque is the force that will move you from a stand still and gives you excelleration, horsepower only keeps you at your desired speed. The 2009 Audi A4 has achieved the best 0-60 MPH times as well as the best fuel economy in its class because they have optimized on torque. Keep in mind when you are looking at vehicle statistics that horsepower is only a number. What is important is what those numbers can produce in regards to real life performance.
The Audi Q5 will be a perfect balance for those people with an active lifestyle, as well as the need for practicality. The Q5 will offer sportiness and as this video shows, versatile capabilities in diverse terrain. The feeling I take from this video before seeing the Q5 in person is the ability to comfortably tackle the elements of the city while not shying away from a little dirt. If you enjoy doing everything with one vehicle, the Q5 will be THE vehicle. Also, check out this video which was filmed primarily in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, near and in Vancouver.
Christmas greetings from Guinness and the rest of us here in snowy Portland! I will say it is a treat to have a white Christmas here as it is certainly rare…
Guinness has fully gone into hibernation mode and spends most of the day curled up in his special fleece blanket to stay warm! As for the rest of us, that don’t have the luxury of waiting for the snow to melt until we venture out into the world… we wish you safe travels for the holidays and an enjoyable time with family and friends!
