Though we didn’t think it was possible to love the Audi A1 more – today we find renewed love in the vehicle we will certainly never see and yet another installment in a growing series of things we write that showcase our love for this small but mighty member of the Audi family! Realizing this isn’t exactly new, but no less exciting, 333 of the Audi A1 Supermini will be set for release mid-2012.
These 252 horse power super charged power houses will of course only be available to our friends in Europe and the cost has yet to be determined, but these are some slick looking vehicles which will all be produced in Glacier white metallic and will be sporting Quattro as well. Audi is hoping to stake its claim in building “the most powerful and fastest accelerating car of its kind ever created” and we agree they are well on their way to making this a reality! Although, we are pretty sad we won’t get to reap any of these benefits without relocating somewhere is Europe!! Check out this great article with some more detailed points and enjoy your day!
In the spirit of all things Audi, in the season of all things festive – we just wanted to share this little piece of holiday Audi with all of you! Anyone else have any festive Audi inspired holiday things to share?! Merry Christmas!!
Proof that Audi has always and will continue to make outstanding and industry leading vehicles that can stand the test of time… We definitely love new Audi’s – but we can certainly appreciate the Audi’s previous too – its not really as question as to why though “Twenty-three years after the cancellation of Group B, the Audi Sport Quattro S1 is still widely regarded as the most powerful rally car ever fielded in international competition, with the final factory machines of 1986 rated at 441 kW (600 PS; 591 bhp). In addition to Group B competition, the S1 won the 1985 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with Michèle Mouton in the driving seat, setting a world record time in the process. This victory was repeated in 1987, this time at the hands of Walter Röhrl.” says Wiki.
This is a great video showcasing some of the many amazing technologies Audi does so well – as well as the words that Audi lives by, Vorsprung durch Technik. From the very first Quattro to the MMI or Touch MMI Audi really does know how to create a driving experience that captures all the advancements they have made over so many years and roll them into one sexy looking car that not only functions exceptionally, but keeps drivers coming back for more. In addition, they always manage to capture a great presence in their videos – always sleek and with great music that pairs quite ingeniously. We love this, and of course, everything else Audi, but today we thought a little reminder of how great they are was in order! Check out Audi Deutschland on YouTube and see what you think- Have a great day! “An atmospheric film that translates the Audi brand philosophy into inspiring images.” We couldn’t agree with this description more!
Yes we know – You are not an Audi. It’s true and we’re just thankful that you know it! We had the pleasure of catching this very cool plate on our drive home last night and loved it so much that we had to follow it into the parking garage to snap a shot of it. They say a picture is worth a thousand words – and yes, we would like to agree.
Well to say this is creative may be an understatement. Tasteful though?? You can be the judge of that. We have to hand it to the creator of these projects and his vision for all things Audi. He is a true lover of the brand and is really willing to put that out there in a way that no one else really would be! The Berlin Buick is a name he commonly uses for his Audi’s and today we thought we’d share that with all of you! Has anyone else heard of this reference before and would care to share some details with us?? In the meantime take a few minutes to appreciate Nate’s pics and his very own brand of Audi love. Have a great day!
If you are lucky enough to have snow during this time of year, this may be a familiar picture for you – but if you live in the West Coast, its likely you have to travel to a mountain for skiing or snowboarding or some sort of Winter activity to catch this kind of shot. We just want to say how happy we are for the very cold but very sunny weather we have had recently – and look forward to some snow in the very near future!! If you have an Audi, you are ready for this type of weather and if you don’t – you may just want to take a picture of someone who does and send it to us!! Either way – have a great day!
We just overheard someone say they loved their “S” model Audi because of its exclusivity, they said they loved being one of the fortune members of the “Silver Mirror Club” – we think this is great! The idea that even within Audi people are so enthusiastic about their car, from quattro, TDI, S and RS Audi drivers are truly passionate about what they drive. Even if your not part of the “Silver Mirror Club” when you drive an Audi you belong to a very special family.
Emenem said in the song – Our House: “Come on I’m not playin it’s cold” and we kind of feel like that is how this Audi R8 must feel. We took this picture this morning when it was 28 degrees outside, for the North West that is COLD! Remember if you take your R8 #WantAnR8 out today drive safe, its not snowing but the roads are slick. Have an amazing Saturday everyone.
As unusual as this is for us West Coasters – this morning was an exceptionally frosty day – complete with something the weather services people like to call, freezing fog. A little north up the I5 it was a gorgeous and sunny day but we were reminded how lucky we are to have so many fantastically weather approved Audi’s in our midst just for occasions like this. Hope everyone is keeping warm today – and enjoying their Audi’s as usual!
Not surprisingly the folks at Audi are always trying to think of new ways to share the Audi experience through social channels. Most recently a campaign on Twitter: #RemarkableAudi aims at having professionals that love the brand share their stories. It is this type of forward thinking that we think makes Audi stand out from most others, not only in the cars themselves, but the people who love them. Check out Photographer Jim Fets take on this; and our favorite line, referring to the new Audi S8 as “rolling architecture.” We couldn’t agree more and we can’t wait to see what keeps rolling in from the very creative and talented minds of Audi lovers worldwide! Be sure to check out the video and let us know what you think. Have a great day!
We always love to hear from our readers and we especially love to hear from them with pictures and a story that goes along with it! One of our readers sent us this and said: “If it is one of them (R8 GT), It’s Tom Kaulitz’s car, given as a birthday present in September 2011 from the Audi Company; it had Michigan plates but now should be registered in West Hollywood, CA.” A few months ago we posted a video on an A1 being driven by two young guys and it looks as though one of them has managed to grace the pages of I Am Audi again! Does anyone know who Tom Kaulitz is or better yet, should we know?! One thing we can all agree on is that he has awesome taste in vehicles!
Well it’s Monday again and for most of you it’s the start of another work week so we thought we’d help to clear away some of the Monday blues with some shots of this beautiful blue specimen of an Audi. Love it or hate it?? We think it is awesome and would love nothing more than to have this sitting outside our office door waiting for us when the day done! (Except for maybe in R8 form…) Not only is it dropped and bagged – but it is Matte blue and by now most everyone knows how much we love that!! We can’t think of a more perfect combination – have a great Monday!
We’re sure many of you have heard by now of the antics of one Andy White of late. For those of you who don’t know who is he, he is the Senior Social Media Manager for Audi and the mastermind behind Audi’s recent “Safe Driving Pledge” action. Turns out though while he does support it from a professional stance – he does not practice what he preaches! White is currently being slammed online for a picture he posted to Twitter showcasing his “in-car multitouch connected enabled mobile office” while driving and photographing it from his phone. Perhaps it is somewhat of a faux pas for us to think this really isn’t that big of deal considering that if we are all really honest each of us do something that would likely be considered unlawful in our cars – answering the phone without our beloved Bluetooth, changing songs on our iPods, texting “c u soon” really quickly at a stop light, etc, etc, etc… Granted White should probably not have broadcast it to the masses, but can you really fault a guy for doing so when it is his literally his job to be socially present??
If we let ourselves get past the outrage of those instantly willing to bash anyone and anything online – its actually pretty funny. Lets hope he was stopped at a light or rolling at a snails speed home on his commute or something that makes it ok to post what he did – but even if he wasn’t, lets hand it to the guy for having the guts to post something so ridiculous and antagonistic that he may very well lose his job over it. Andy White – we support your not so safe driving habits in the spirit of being human in a world completely over run by technology that we feel the need to post every possible last detail of our lives to some sort of media outlet. Next time we hope you pull over completely before engaging in your “in-car multitouch connected enabled mobile office” but if you ever want to connect with us, we’ll be on ours too. Here’s the original article on OregonLive should you like some additional details.
Thanks to Auto123 cultivating some information from leading car manufacturers presence on social media sites like Facebook – we are able to get a clear picture of who is leading the race on capturing the attention of the masses out there in the world of online presence of our friends to the North. It looks like Volkswagen Canada is leading the way by somewhat of a landslide amongst its competitors while Audi USA takes the lead in the US. With so much of a social presence here in the US it really makes us wonder what happened to Audi Canada on that list – not even getting a mention! We did a bit of research ourselves and found that while Audi Canada does have a Facebook page, it has a miniscule audience of 59 Likes, compared to the staggering 4 Million Audi USA hit today. We just want to say that we hope Audi Canada has hired someone for that job because they have a lot of catching up to do! We don’t doubt for a second they can’t do it – just wondering why they are so late to the game. If we know anything about Audi, we know they like to lead so we’ll be waiting patiently for Audi Canada to show us what they have in the way of gaining social presence – perhaps they can take some advice from their Volkswagen ‘friends.’ Until then, we are happy being grateful for Audi USA’s spot at the top of social presence in this industry – great job! Click to check out Auto123’s poll and additional info.
We know it may seem slightly repetitive to keep talking about the Audi A1 – but we just can’t help how much we love this vehicle! So much in fact, that when there is any new news about it, we feel obligated to spread the word! So that is just what we are going to do. Not that it will likely make any difference to any of us seeing this little machine in the US, but at least it is still ok to live vicariously through others. This time, those others happen to be the lucky folks in Tokyo who had the opportunity to catch the unveiling of the A1 Sportback at the Tokyo Auto Show. It is expected to be available in early 2012 in Europe, of course, and is aimed at the “young, urban public.” Not that we would expect anything less from Audi – but it is a very cool and sporty – and though we may not speak for everyone, but with no plans to be released in the US, we are a bit sad about this. Click to catch some of the specs on the A1 Sportback and dream about living in Europe, for more than one reason or another!!
We really enjoy photography and these days there are so many ways to take pictures as well as so many ways to share them. We love this aspect of technology and are always thrilled when people share pictures of their Audi’s. We definitely aren’t picky – we love all pictures involving Audi’s but it really shows the pride people take in their cars when the pictures turn out this well – it really helps to grow the brand as far as we’re concerned. So please keep the pictures coming!!! We do especially love this one though – Thanks for sharing AudiBlogPL!
At I Am Audi we like to keep it fresh and that means constant updates and continual efforts on making the site better both visually and functionally. We strive for a site that’s sexy and a site people enjoy visiting and sharing with others – but what does that really take?? Well here is a sneak peak. It’s a rare opportunity to see the development of a website in action, but this a chance to see the man behind the curtain – Benjamin we love everything you have done for I Am Audi and we really appreciate it :: Scroll to the bottom and watch the video!
We follow Audi UK on Facebook and we had to share a video they recently posted on their wall about quattro, the video description is – 1980: unique in series production. Today: the standard to match. Tomorrow: the lead to keep. The all-wheel drive quattro. “Now that winter’s here, the benefits of quattro all-wheel-drive have never been clearer: it directs power to just where it’s needed for enhanced road-holding in all weather conditions. We will be showcasing our world-renowned all-wheel-drive technology during Audi quattro season, which starts tomorrow and finishes on 4 December. Speak to your local Audi Centre or visit audi.co.uk/quattroseason for more details. You can also find out more about the history of quattro in this video.”
We have many things to be thankful for everyday – things that we almost always take for granted or just fail to realize we should be thankful for – and of course at this time of year we are reminded that we really should be more thankful. But we should be thankful more throughout the year and our daily lives and not just on one specific day… so today we are not just going to be thankful for Audi – but for the Girls in general that they attract as well as all the other girl to car ratios throughout this industry!! It is really a brilliant thing to be thankful for and we definitely need to recognize that more! Enjoy your day and be thankful!!!
Every piece of the machine counts – from the engine, drivetrain and seats to the extra Audi Parts & Accessories you tailor fit to your car. We love European pieces like the Audi RS4 flat bottom steering wheel that just adds that extra level of sportiness and even things as simple as an Audi iPod Cable. Recently we had the opportunity to see a suede wrapped TT R5 steering wheel and we fell in love. If you’re considering a new steering wheel for your Audi make sure to check this out – you wont be disappointed.
The LA Auto Show opens its doors today and we wish we were there!!! Pretty much any excuse to take a break from the rain we’ve had here in Portland would be great – but a car excuse… even better!! If anyone happens to be attending we would love to see your pictures so feel free to send them our way! In the meantime here is some info on the 2013 Audi A6 that was unveiled their during their pre-opening shows (Thank you Antuan!!) One thing is for sure – Audi never disappoints! Enjoy and have a great weekend!!!
Audi of America is leading the way with it’s commitment to customer service and to prove that, today they announced a new position of Director of Customer Experience and awarded the position to Jeri Ward. Ward has previous experience with Audi as General Manager of Customer Advocacy, and has many additional years behind her in Marketing as well as customer relations, previously with Ford Motor Company. This new position will focus on improving customer experience and loyalty throughout the brand as well as overseeing the Audi Club Of North America and all other enthusiast groups related to the company, the Customer Care Call Center and ensuring customer excellence within the company.
It’s a big job and we would love to pick her brain!!! Ward assumes the position today and we look forward to seeing what she brings to the table – and next time we’re in Herndon, VA we would love the opportunity to sit down and speak with the woman who now has Audi’s customer loyalty future in the palm of her hand! If you would like to read more details please click – Thank you Fourtitude!! Have a great day!
Who says a picture is worth a thousand words?? This one short video is worth many more. Thanks format67.net for finally having women racing cars on winding roads and twisting streets and not just being passengers or picking up kids from soccer practice – we like that. This video is very well done and the music is fantastic, plus we have to say it’s pretty hot to have the girls racing!! Check it out and let us know what you think.
We probably don’t have to explain who this person is to most people – but despite already being one of our favorites – in her field – there is now more reasons to love Sasha Grey!! She is helping the youth of our newest generations with the “Read Across America” project – and of course is taking a lot of heat in the process. Parents are outraged and the school she was supposedly reading at has said she was never actually there to begin with – but despite all the speculation… pictures never lie! Right??? We love you Sasha! And we especially love that while you are teaching the youth of America the wonders of the written word – you have also found a way to represent Audi in the process, and for that, we love you even more. Keep up the great work! If you want catch the full article: click. Sasha also proudly Tweeted about the experience on her Twitter account.
Fall is one of our favorite seasons – this morning a thick layer of fog had fallen over the city and reminded me what I love most about this time of year… pretty much everything! Feels as though we could love it even more if we had this Audi R8 sitting in our driveway though. This vehicle never loses it appeal – even if it is dark and grey outside. Dare I say, it even adds to its appeal!? If you happen to have one of these in your driveway or garage (hopefully!) today is a perfect day for a spin – and if you don’t, don’t fret, I Am Audi is for you! You can just drool over this one for the day! Either way – enjoy your Friday!
Kudos to Audi for a job very well done! The Audi A7 has been named vehicle of the year by the Motor Press Guild (MPG) which is the largest automotive media association in North America. The information was released earlier and the award will be received by Audi of America President, Johan de Nysschen at the LA Auto Show November 16th, 2011. The 2012 A7 won over its competition with its pairing of elegance and sportiness that we all know Audi does so well! This is a great “win” for Audi and we, as always, look forward to seeing many more Audi wins in the future! For more information on the award and the Motor Press Guild please click the link. Keep up the great work Audi!
What are some of your favorite weekend drives, and when is the best season to do that drive? Of course a sunny day with the top down is always nice, and a drive up the mountain in the snow is epic but there is something special about a drive on a Fall day. Let us know if you have a favorite drive you like to embark on this time of year, if its the scenery you enjoy or the twisty roads that keep you coming back – we would love to know. The credit for this image goes to ohirtenfelder’s Flickr photostream; the perfect storm an R8 and beautiful weather.
Thank you K-Libre.ca for this shot, we love it! As most of you know by now I Am Audi has featured quite a few “Audi Girls” so whenever we come across a new picture it’s always nice. We thought this would be a nice picture to kick-start your weekend – hope you like it, have a great couple of days off!
Deep down inside all men are boys at heart, we want to play video games, eat pizza and just hang out with our friends. Yesterday I got a text from Jeff Blackwood who had spent the entire day playing the new Forza Motorsport 4 and wanted to share some pictures of the cars he was racing on the game, his favorite is this Audi S4! Jeff says: “Forza motorsports 4 is a fantastic game that is Ultra realistic, you can race a variety of cars from an Audi S4, Peugeot 908 to a ford pickup – it really has something for everybody. My wife hates how much time I spend playing it.” Well done Jeff keep your inner child smiling! If you have pictures of your cars on Forza please send them our way, we would love to see them.
This weekend will truly be amazing for Dan Gross, because his #WantAnR8 dream came true! Dan has an Audi R8 this entire weekend like Julie (@jmdc88 on Twitter) had a few weeks back. So I guess Audi really does make dreams come true and just maybe next time it might be your turn to #WantAnR8!!
Its so nice waking up to an email from someone who took the time to send in pictures of their Audi; it doesn’t hurt that the pictures are of an Audi RS5 either! A group of the top Audi Websites and journalists were invited out by Audi to drive the Audi RS5 in The Snow and for some reason these pictures reminded me of that. Thank you for the pictures – we are very excited to get the RS5 in the United States next year!!
Top Car wrote an article that you can check out here —–> Audi R8 GT Article, but before delving into the article, if you’re not familiar with the R8 or the R8 GT here is some information from Car And Driver: “Consider the R8 lineup complete, or at least symmetrical for now. With the addition of this lightened R8 GT Spyder, Audi has balanced the coupe and convertible sides with three models each: the V-8 cars, the V-10s, and the more-powerful V-10 GT versions. As was the case with the GT coupe, only 333 GT Spyders will be produced for worldwide consumption.”
Ben Abrams of eGarage said, “We started eGarage because we wanted to do something special with Automotive content. This includes how we choose to reflect the seemingly ancient relationship between the female gender and the Automobile.”. Make sure to check out eGarage on Facebook and the entire eGarage.com + Shay Maria article on their website.
We want to thank Mario as well as Justin Swain for these shots of this Audi S4, they look awesome! The wheels are 19″x8.5″ Work VSXXs in Burning Silver with black hardware. Make sure to check out BPCDubs as well as the BPCDubs Facebook Page for more pictures of local cars and the local Audi VW scene!
