What makes a great race? Or a better question, what makes a race truly great? I wonder if it is the competition, the drivers, or could it be the challenge and heritage of the track itself? There is no doubt in my mind that without all of these elements the race could not be called a “race”. I suppose during a race it has to be asked, what are we racing, the other drivers, your own best time? or could the answer be “you are racing the track?” I have a great deal of respect for the men and women involved in motorsports because the thing that they are trying to achieve is imposible; they are trying to beat the track, knowing the track was there long before them and will be there long after their racing career has ended.
