Setting Up Bluetooth – iPhone with Audi

Jan 8

Apple products and Audi’s are very compatible. It is said “if Apple made a car it would be an Audi,” the iPhone is no exception. The Audi interface on the MMI (Multi Media Interface) with the iPhone is seamless. Keep in mind your Audi has to be bluetooth equipped for this to work, also pairing can only be done when the vehicle ignition has been on for less then 5 minutes.
Picture Description
First press the telephone button to make sure your iPhone has not already been paired with this vehicle. If the phone is not paired the message below will come up on the screen in your Audi.
Picture Description
Go to the starting page of your iPhone and you will see an icon that looks like gears labeled “settings” go into this aplication.
Picture Description
This is a detailed up close image of the “settings” icon.
Picture Description
Now that you are in “settings” go into the the toolbar labeled “general”.

You will then go into a screen that has a Bluetooth toolbar, make sure that Bluetooth is ON.

Picture Description
After selecting the Bluetooth “on,” you will see the Audi pairing with the iPhone device, it will only take a few moments for the Audi to find the iPhone device.
Picture Description
Now that the Audi has located the iPhone you will be asked to enter your PIN#, the default PIN# is 1234. After entering the generic PIN# the Audi and the iPhone will pair, this will only take a few moments.
Picture Description
It will briefly read “paired”
Picture Description
You will now see a new screen come up that is your dialing system for your hands free device. Below this you will notice a small Bluetooth icon.

Picture Description
You can enter most of your iPhone functions in regards to the phone, such the memory of calls both out going and those you have recieved.
Picture Description
Feel free to input a phone number to try the new system out.
Picture Description
And as an added bonus while your iPhone is docked in the iPod adapter in the glove box it will keep your iPhone charged for you.

Had same problem with new Q5.
Several hundred contacts in my iPhone were “corrupted” , had tel numbers in wrong fields, email addresses in tel fields, etc.
I went through each contact on the computer and deleted the “corrupted”
ones, corrected minor problems on other contacts, made sure each and
every contact had the correct info in the correct field, then synced the
Iphone with the computer.
Then all was OK.
All contacts were transferred to the Audi memory.
Try it.

In my world
Audi and Apple are not compatible at all!

Because
iPhone does not have rSAP access, it won’t allow the Audi online services to
connect to the IPhone.

My options are:

·
Get
rid of the IPhone

·
buy
another SIM with a different number and put it in the dash slot and then have
to divert all my calls each time I get in/out the car

·
Dual
SIM is not possible with data in the UK

·
Put
the iPhone micro SIM (with adapter) in the dash slot each time I get in the car
(annoying and also block incoming texts / emails whilst in car)

·
My
Audi dealer has suggested: get another (data) SIM for the dash that Audi
connect will use, buy a separate Bluetooth phone unit and use that for the
iPhone (how daft is that!)

·
Annoyingly
the Bluetooth also stops all other audio notifications on the iPhone, text,
meetings, emails etc

It’s simply
not fit for purpose!.

I have a new
A7 with 3G MMI and all the toys etc in the UK.

From Charles Velasquez on June 22nd, 2012

I have the very same problem – did you ever find a solution? I’ve tried the 02 store where I purchased it fro & the Audi dealership and both deny being responsible for any fault. My husband has an iPhone with Vodaphone & my son has one with Orange network & both of these work fine. Just wandering if it could be my network provider. Please reply if you have the answer as I am now quite desperate. Thanks, Lynn

I just got an iPhone 4s and it is not discovering my audi Q5? How can I pair them? I always had blackberry before and never had a problem syncing it.

PLEASE HELP??!!

From Mcherry72 on July 31st, 2012

I currently have a Blackberry but I’ve ordered an iPhone 5. I have a 2006 A4. I’ve read the posts below and I don’t find exactly what I am looking for. It is this – will the iPhone 5 connect with the Bluetooth in the Audi automatically when I turn on the ignition. The BB does it just fine – I don’t have to do anything. Any experience out there?
